Description

Being a methodical system of divination that’s approximately 3,000 years old (dating to the Zhou Dynasty), the I Ching (or Yijing) is a greatly powerful tool when it comes to self-inquiry and seeking oracular discernment into the situations and hurdles we encounter in everyday life. Thinkers, philosophers, mathematicians, scientists, and even psychoanalysts like Carl Jung were intrigued by its effectiveness and complexity, seeing the I Ching as a timeless instrument for gaining breadth and depth of perspective, to find an informed course of action, and to gain insight into affairs beyond ordinary human understanding. Putting equal emphasis both on the divinatory and moralising purposes of the I Ching oracle, we aspire to be authentic in our understanding, and contemporary in our practice. We don’t regard the I Ching in the same way as fortune tellers do; instead, the I Ching serves to restore us, so that we can begin to approach the mysteries emanating from the union of yin and yang, and thereby determine a way for us to behave and move through the world.
